Poetic Patagonia

Today I've been watching you tube videos on editing photos. Seeing how other photographers edit can sometimes help you see your own work in a fresh way and give you new ideas and insight in the editing process. You don't want to edit the photos too much and make them look very unnatural and exaggerated, but editing a little and finding your style can help to bring out a certain mood in your photos.

I learned a few new tricks, and played around a bit on some photos that I took some years ago, when I lived in Argentina. It's a good idea to go over old photos every now and then, since we our vision changes as we grow and learn, and we may notice photos that we didn't really think that much of when we first shot them. Here are some photos from the wild and beautiful El Calafate with it's glaciers, mountains gauchos (cowboys) and wildlife. Hopefully I'll be able to go back some day! :)

The fjords

In the end of June I was blessed to go on a road trip through some of the beautiful fjords of Norway. Here are some of the photos I took :)

Petra in february

After not having blogged for a few years, I'm back again :) I'll try to post a bit more frequently again. These are some of the pictures I shot when I was in Petra, Jordan last february. I'm getting a craving for the tasty shawarmas I had across the street from the hotel just thinking about it!

Ethiopian entrepreneurs

At the moment I find myself in Addis Ababa, capital of Ethiopia. It's my first time in the country. Second time in Africa (last time I was in Uganda, 11 years ago). I must say that so far I have a very good impression of the Ethiopian people based on the people I've met and gotten to know here. They have been very friendly, helpful and including. Two days ago I was invited to show some of my photos and share about creativity and entrepreneurship with a group of girls at the Ethiopian Institute of Architecture, Building Construction and City Development. It was a very inspiring time for me to meet the beautiful girls that my friend Tsion is mentoring, and get inspired by their enthusiasm and creative fellowship.

Easter-wedding

Here are some of the pictures of the happy couple, Susanne and Øyvind. They got married the weekend before Easter this year. Thank you for a great photo-session!

A little trip to Iveland.

Where the famous VOSS water is being bottled. This is where my friend and flat-mate Ingvild grew up  and where her family still live on a farm from the beginning of last century. I guess the cat turned out to be the star in the photos, as I've got a pretty weak spot for cats... :)

The prisoner...

Ingvild feeding the horses.

I found this in Ingvild's mom's paper-workshop.

Ingvild pretending to be best-buddies with the cat.

He managed to sneak into quite a few photos this one...

It was nice playing the piano again.

Wedding & Harry-tur

The last weekend in june I was in the beautiful wedding of my friends Anette and Lars-Ingar in Jeløya. I went with my friends from Notodden, Ingebeth and Matt, and the day after the wedding we decided to do what's called a "Harry-tur" (cross the swedish border to go shopping).

Poor Matt got to sit behind the pole...

 The bubble-blowers...

Check out how syncronized we are!

The lovely couple coming to the reception/wedding party.

Anette (the bride) is artistic in so many ways. I really liked these name-cards (or whatever they're called).

Beautiful farewell to the newly weds.

Christmas in Once, Buenos Aires

The past december I got to join my friend Ruben in giving Christmas presents to kids that spend most of their days at and around the trainstation in Once, Buenos Aires.
Ruben and his happy helpers with the giftbags and the gifts we'd bought inside.
We met this girl outside the trainstation.

Ruben with a mother and kids inside the station.

Many of the kids' parents have problems with drugs or alcohol, and como to the station with their kids most days. Many of them live in slum areas about 1 hour trainride from Once.

Clown class in Buenos Aires

When I was in Argentina last november I got to sit in on my friend's clown class. Here's a little photo essay from that class:

My friend, Migdalis putting on her red nose, getting ready for class.

This day all the students had to present "their clown" for class in preparation for a performance.

The teacher giving feedback after each clown's presentation.

Waiting to present and listening to the constructive feedback from the teacher.

A doubbe-presentation; one clown with a small guitar and one with a big guitar.
In the end some of the spectators got a little bit tired from taking it all in (maybe some didn't get their siesta...).

What I do when I should be finnishing writing my exam...

Put out pictures from easter on my blog... these are from beautiful Flekkerøya outside of Kristiansand.
