El Lago Titikaka

This is from the 2-day tour we did on the world's highest lake- Titikaka. Visiting a coupple of the floating islands, staying one night at Isla Amantani and visiting beautiful Isla Taquile the next day.

Early in the morning, waiting for the boat to fill up.

Graduation in a village school in a community outside of Sucre

When Silvia's mom (Silvia is one of our host-students in Sucre) started working as a teacher there was only about 19 kids and the school was a small, very primitive building. Today there's more that 200 students, and they've expanded the school and has also built a sports field and a kindergarden. Me and one of my class-mates were invited to the schools summer-graduation, you can see some glimses from it below:

I'm leaving on a jetplane...

... In less than a week I'm flying away from the cold & dark norwegian november-days, to a place where the sun shines (hopefully!) and the spring is turning into summer, more specifically: South America!

Yes- I can't stay away from this great continent and it's lovely people. I'll be going to Argentina, Bolivia & Peru this time, in Peru and Bolivia for one month as part of my Intercultural Communication-studies, and I couldn't not go ack to Argentina since I would be "in the neighbourhood" ;)

I'll try to blog a little while I'm there (as I allways say... ). So come back every once in a while if you want to stay in the loop!

Hasta pronto!

Homemade yoghurt and other good things...

I know I haven't blogged much about cooking here before, but it's one of my favorite things in life :) And these past days something's come over me and I've been a bit cooking-crazy... Yesterday I made homemade yoghurt for the first time, and it was very easy actually, and turned out very tasty if I must say so myself (maybe not as thick as I would like, but it said in my recipe that the best thing was to use fresh milk straight from the cow.... since I don't have a cow, and don't live close to a farm where I could sneak inn at the dark hours of night, I had to go with the stuff you get in the store... so it's not super thick but still very tasty...).

And this morning (maybe closer to mid-day for some...) I thought to myself that this delicious homemade yoghurt deserved some good granola... not just the sad-looking stuff that I had in the cupboard, so as we're speaking the homemade granola is in the ovn, ready in a few minutes... It's a first for making granola as well, so I can't say much about the finnished product except that it looks and smells mmmmm..... :)

Homemade yoghurt:

Heat up milk (I used 1%, or Lettmelk, in Norwegian, use Wholemilk if you want) until just before it boils (don't let it boil... then your yoghurt will taste like porridge or something... unless you're of the adventurous kind that prefer porridge-flavoured yoghurt... ;) ). Cool the milk.
Add 1 dl Cream pr. litre milk and heat up to 35-37 degrees (Celcius).
Add 1 dl. yoghurt (plain) pr. litre milk, mix it and poor it into jars with loose lids (or cover with plastic wrap). Put the jars in a cooler and poor water that's about 40 degrees (Celcius) up allmost to the top of the jars. (Put the jars in plastic bags/zip lock bags if your cooler is leaking (like mine was...) and poor the water into the plastic bags...)
Leave in the closed cooler for about 12 hours, then ready! Store it in you frige and eat it with granola & honey/ your favorite jam or fruit or whatever you prefer!

Sam the dog...

Here's some photos from Buenos Aires last year, of my good friends the Morenos and their curious dog, Sam, who's one of the most interresting (to use that word...) dog's I've known... He's quite a character- putting on a show shaking his whole body like an aspen-leaf to make you let him insinde the house (and stopping the spectacle when he thinks you're not watching... haha), Hope you enjoy!

..back again!

Hey, I think I'm back to blogger again... atfer trying out a few other blogs without much luck... Changed the layout a bit again... and hopefully it will put up my photos nicely... and not do any of that silly stuff that it's done with a few of the previous posts.
Spring is finally here- and it's much appreciated! :) Yesterday I went to the opening of a new exhibition at Fotohuset here in Kristiansand, it's called "Blogspots- everyday glimpses from the the countryside and the city" (or something like that... freely translated from norwegian). It was as explained by the title sort of, little stories that the photographer has shot an put up on his blog for the past year. I enjoyed it very much. here's the link to his blog if anyone wants to check them out: http://saftflaske.blogspot.com/

Under construction...

I'm working on making a better looking blogg, hopefully that will inspire me to put up stuff here more often :) For now I found an old photo that I thought I'd share with you. It's from an outdoor concert-thing in Ålesund, on the westcoast (of Norway), a few years ago... 2004 maybe?

On the road again....

Hello again, after a long break from blogging, I'm back once more :) Still in Argentina, travelling around in Patagonia at the moment, together with 4 latvian friends. Our first stop was in Zapala, in the Neuquen province, then to San Martin de los Andes, and now I am in Bariloche, in Rio Negro.
