Migration-time

Norway is cold and icy and it's time to migrate again ;) So on the 7th of january I'll be flying off to Peru... I will be in Peru till the end of february, or maybe a little longer if I can trick someone into going to Macchu Picchu with me. Then I'll go down to Argentina again, and stay there till june. In Peru I'll be working with some teams from a YWAM (Youth With A Mission) base in Argentina. And after that I'll go back and work a little with Storytellers, the ones I worked with last time. I'm also hoping to brush up on my spanish, learn to play the pan flute, ride a llama and pick up some tango steps ;)

So that's the news for me. I'll try to be a bit better at posting pic's on here this time...

Blogger comeback ;)

With all these pages and things to manage on the internet I admit I get a little overwhelmed sometimes, and so my blogger has been suffering because of my lacking abilities to keep up with everything. Well, here's some photo's finally, if you haven't completely given up on this blog since I haven't updated it for a while.... ;)

Sil

man... if it isn't this it's that... flipping technical problems.... not able to upload photos....
okay, I will have to try agein later I guess... well, atleast I tried... silly blog!! :)

At last- pictures!

Here's finally some pictures from South America, I'll stick to my word :) This is from Brazil, from a very beautiful island 3 hours south of Rio, called Ilha Grande. Me and Marie Helene went there togther with two other norwegian girls that we met at the hostel in Rio, we had a great time there! This is from a trip to some beautiful, secluded beaches on the island (which has 113 beaches or something aløl together)- we got a local fisherman to take us there :)

Lost in translation in Buenos Aires

Hey- I'm alive, and I'm in South America- more specific Buenos Aires, Argentina. Before we came here, we had 10 wonderful days in Brazil- Rio and Ilha Grande :) Can't write much, because we're on our way out to rock the city! But just to let you all know I'm still alive, but facebook is where it happens these days... :) I'll try to post some pictures here, or let you know the adress to our travel blog if we get it up and running :)

Ciao amigos!

Return to blogger...

Just to let everyone know who bothers to check out this page every now and then, I'll soon be posting more here... I haven't been here much lately, but I'm leaving on saturday, to go to South America for 2 months, so I will try to post some pictures and let you know what's up in the hood :)

Have a beautiful spring (It's not so beautiful in Kristiansand where I am right now, grey, foggy and rainy...)

Much love,
Silje

Impressions of a snowy day in the city

Sneaky papparazzi-pictures, shot as I was walking (trying to keep up with my friends), and holding the camera on my belly, litterally just point and shoot (without looking through the wiewfinder) and . It can be fun sometimes, and you never know exactly what you get :)

Spontanious living

Thursday night, I got back to the house around midnight, it had been snowing, and everything was covered in white, and it made those nice squeaky noices as I was walking in the white prettyness. I made a snowangel outside the entrance, where the other Silje that I live with was waiting for me (she didn't have her key).
After we had eaten, we decided to go out and slide in the snow, so we both got dressed, this was around 12.30 am, brought big, black trashbags with us and went out into the white, in search of a good slide-hill.. we found one, in a park not so far from our house, put on our trashbags and went sliding :) It was alot of fun!
I love being out in the middle of the night, when most people are inside asleap- it feels like the world is all yours ;) This made me remember how important it is to me to do spontanious childish things like that. I don't want to "grow up" and just live a precictable, routine, boring life (I'm sure it's not boring to some people, but to me it would not be satisfying). Little silly things like this is what makes me feel like I'm alive, and not just excisting.

So, to myself, and to whoever reads this- don't forget to live, and do those fun, spontanious little things that to some people might seem very silly :)

(I'm very glad we went when we did, because the next day it rained, and now what was all white and beautiful has turened to ice, and the world is very slippery...)

Long time, no post...

I haven't been very blogging-active lately, but just to let u all know I'm still alive and kickin' :) Celebrating Christmas in Kristiansand with my family these days. Today has been a penguin-day for me, went to the movies with my brother and watched "Happy Feet", and tonight I watched "March of the penguins" at home, with my mom and dad, so alot of penguins today :)

I hope you are all doing well wherever you are, and that your Christmas has been good so far.

Since I always find it more interresting when there's a photo involved, I'll give you one: This is me and a beautiful 6 year-old girl, called Unam, she hangs out at our place in Oslo every now and then. This was in the beginning of december, I think.

Happy New Year!

Angel

A little christmas for you ;)
A little angel in Hawaii. I'm still in Norway, in case of confucion (although I wouldn't mind being in Hawaii right now),

well, I hope this little angel can bring some hope and christmas-feelings in a dark december :)

Aloha

Picture

I found this one yesterday and thought I'd post it. There's something about it that I like, not able to say what right now and I'm not gonna write much more, because I feel like that will ruin it. But it's from Hawaii, and it's a selfportrait sort of, I'll leave the rest to you to try to figure out if you want to :)

Søndags-tur

Hibernation...

November is here (for those of you that still think it's oktober or some other month), has been for a while now, and it is definetly getting colder, and darker. I have been feeling tired (without having worked much) for the past days/weeks, and felt like hibernating (more information about hibernation can be found at the end of this post) and just sleep and sleep, like a bear, and not come out untill christmas, and then after that come out a few times to go snowboarding, and then after that not come out untill spring again (okay, I'll probably come out for Easter too). I've also felt like flying off to a beautiful, warm island with fantastic beaches, in the south pacific or somewhere... :) I go there in my imagination sometimes. (Hawaii wouldn't be so bad right now, to be honest). Oh well, I'll survive the winter, with lighting lots of candles all the time, wrapping myself in blankets, drinking alot of tea, coffee, hot chocolate and other warm drinks and doing cozy stuff inside, and going outside every now and then while it's still light.

Actually, last tuesday me and a friend had a picnic outside, in a park, with hot chocolate, freshly baked scones and other good stuff, it was a beautiful, sunny day, and the fall-leaves on the ground, and a few up in the trees were still a bit yellow. After the picnic we went to Munch museum- which is just next to the park. It made me feel really cultural.

Hibernation is a state of inactivity and metabolic depression in animals, characterized by lower body temperature, slower breathing, and lower metabolic rate, to conserve energy, especially during winter. Hibernation may last several days or weeks depending on species, ambient temperature, and time of year. Typically, the winter season for the hibernator is characterized by periods of hibernation interrupted by periodic euthermic arousals wherein body temperature is restored to typical values. Hibernation allows animals to conserve energy during the winter when food is short. During hibernation, animals slow their metabolism to a very low level to allow them to use their energy reserves, stored as body's fat, at a slower rate.

(from Wikipedia- a site where you can learn alot about many things, if you wanna know more about hibernattion, you can read the rest here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hibernation, if you want to laugh and at the same time learn in a pretty unorthodox way about bears, you can go here: http://uncyclopedia.org/wiki/Bear)

Silly pictures...

Those were the days.. these are from a beach wedding reception on Turtle Beach in Hawaii (Man, I wanna get married barefoot on a beach in Hawaii..., this is the 2nd time I've been to one, and they were both sooo beautiful...) . This is me and Lizzy being a little silly... :)
